2XI GP Sprint

 

What?

2X Ignite launched a 6-month acceleration program for 6 female-led or gender-balanced fund managers with gender-smart investing strategies across Africa.

How?

2X Ignite and a handpicked team of investment experts will work with the 6 selected GPs on bespoke and practical actions to expedite the timeline to a first close. Throughout the program GPs work hands-on with experts and mentors who will bring in candid LP perspectives and provide GPs with concrete feedback to tackle their respective priorities.

Program:

  • Structured across 12 x 2-week intervals, the program consists of live workshops, practical project work on the 2X Ignite digital academy (asynchronously; with direct relevance to the GP’s work on her fund), and targeted LP meetings.

  • In each 2-week time interval, GPs are expected to dedicate 3 hours to live sessions + 6 hours to practical project work + 10-20 hours to LP meetings.

Who?

The 7 participants will be selected by a team of representatives from 2X, fund investors and fund investment experts based on an online application and, for the finalists, personal interviews.

Selection criteria:

  • Female or gender-balanced -led and –owned GP

  • Africa focus

  • Gender-smart investing strategy along the 2X criteria and across the investment cycle

  • Open to VC, PE and innovative finance, both traditional structures and alternative vehicles

  • Tier 2 and 3 GPs: Tier 2 = Launched with thesis and strategy, starting to build pipeline; Tier 3 = Raised some capital and/or deal(s) completed

Expectation:

  • Time commitment and perseverance during the 6 months program from November 2022 to May 2023.

  • Motivated and open to constructive feedback from an LP perspective and positive energy to roll up her sleeves and implement top priority actions towards a first close.

2X Ignite GP Sprint Team:

The program will be run by Chris Rangen of Strategy Tools & Link VC, Jessica Espinoza & Marijn Wiersma of 2X Collaborative, along with a team of LP investment professionals from across 2X member institutions and a group of handpicked fund investment experts as strategic advisors and mentors, many of whom have been involved in the design sprint.

VERY IMPORTANT!

The 2XI GP Sprint is a standalone program and is NOT linked to a future 2X Ignite investment facility or any expectations of funding. Selection for a future 2X Ignite facility will be a separate process. The aim of the 2XI GP Sprint is to accelerate 6 fund managers to a first close based on hands-on capacity building and networking just through this 6-month program.
